Kerry Zimmerman Joins Land Advisors’ Bay Area Land Team
Land Advisors Organization is pleased to announce that Kerry Zimmerman has joined the Bay Area Land Team as Senior Vice President where he will focus on the South Bay submarkets and will continue to grow Land Advisors’ multifamily platform throughout California.
“I’m very excited to join Land Advisors because they have both an entrepreneurial spirit and a really strong platform, which has made them a key player in the real estate business. We have a great opportunity to capitalize on apartment opportunities in California because the multifamily permits in the last five years have significantly increased and almost exceeded single family permits. I’m confident that I can really leverage my expertise to unlock our clients’ land value and turn it into an institutional asset,” says Zimmerman.
Zimmerman has served in the role of Vice President of Forward Planning and Acquisitions for multiple reputable homebuilders in the San Francisco Bay Area, including Summerhill Homes, John Laing Homes, Signature, and City Ventures, as well as Vice President of Real Estate for SunCal where he oversaw all Northern California acquisitions and dispositions. Most recently, he served as the Regional Head of Acquisitions at Irvine Company for almost a decade. His transactions totaled 4,400 apartment units and over $570 million dollars in consideration.
President of Irvine Company’s Apartment Development Division, Christopher Marsh, describes Zimmerman as a dynamic real estate professional who has “proved to be a creative problem solver that creates value from site identification through project delivery.” Marsh concludes, “Kerry successfully sourced and negotiated numerous apartment and mixed-use development opportunities. He will be an outstanding addition to the Land Advisors team in the Bay Area.”
Although based in the San Francisco Bay Area, Zimmerman has worked throughout California and boasts an impressive $1.1 billion dollars in consideration within multiple asset classes. Moreover, Zimmerman has been a licensed attorney in the state of California for over 25 years, giving him the advantage of advising clients on the legalities of complex real estate transactions, land use, and economic risks throughout the state. He adds, “Working in such a diverse state has given me a strong understanding of entitlements that can be difficult in multifamily projects because it takes intensive oversight and seamless coordination of site validation and due diligence. Over the years, I’ve been able to grow my multifamily portfolio by perfecting my investment strategies and utilizing my legal background in those unique projects.”
