Reno, Nevada (July 9, 2026) – Land Advisors Organization’s Reno office recently facilitated the sale of 1,627 acres to the Western Rivers Conservancy. The Conservancy’s purchase of the parcel is creating Nevada’s newest State Park: Nevada State Park #28, which will be renamed.

The new park will span along the Carson River just east of Dayton, Nevada. Western Rivers Conservancy’s purchase and transfer of the property to Nevada State Parks preserves 4.5 miles of river frontage, historic ranchlands, cottonwood forests, wetlands, and portions of the California and Pony Express trails, while expanding public access to one of Northern Nevada’s most significant natural landscapes. The new park, which spans both the north and south sides of the river and extends into the sagebrush hills surrounding the riparian corridor, also protects important riparian habitat for fish and wildlife and offers expanded public access to the riverfront. Once complete, the park is expected to offer hiking, biking, fishing, horseback riding, wildlife viewing, and day-use recreation, further enhancing the region’s outdoor amenities and quality of life.

The acquisition transfers land that had remained in private ownership for more than 155 years. Mark Krueger and Ryan Krueger of Land Advisors Organization’s Reno office represented the seller, Dayton 2024, in the transaction.

“As Northern Nevada’s population and employment continue to grow, this new state park will strengthen the area’s long-term appeal for residents, businesses, and investors by preserving open space and creating a valuable recreational asset for future generations,” said Mark Krueger. “This is great news for our community, and we were proud to help the Conservancy make such an important investment in the region’s future.”

The Western Rivers Conservancy, which purchases land along the West’s finest rivers and streams to conserve habitat for fish and wildlife, protect key sources of cold water and create public access for all to enjoy, has created sanctuaries for fish and wildlife and secured recreational access along more than 260 rivers and streams around the West. This is the Conservancy’s second conservation project in the Carson River basin. The organization is also currently working to conserve the 1,688-acre Park Ranch on the East Fork Carson River upstream in California, which will protect 1.6 miles of river and important mountain meadow habitat in the High Sierra.
